HALLOWEEN #3

Am eigentlichen Tag von Halloween hatten wir natürlich einerseits Class, aber dann sind wir abends zu der Parade in Edinburgh gegangen. Samhuinn ist ein keltischer Brauch, bei dem der Sommer vom Winter vertrieben wird.

A night where the veil that splits both worlds grows thinner, a night where spirits can touch the souls of the living. A night to reflect on the year gone by and to look forward to the one to come. Samhuinn celebrates the Celtic New Year, with a spectacular procession, and visual pyrotechnic feast in the heart of Edinburgh.

Beltane Fire Society take the blows of the Winter, setting a dramatic, dark, and hunting performance that will evoke the last dance of the Summer before the land takes its winter gown.

 Als wir uns dann einen Platz an der Straße gesucht haben und glücklich waren, fing es leicht an zu nieseln. War ja klar- Schottland halt. Und dann, gerade als der Umzug den Hügel runterkam, fing es SO RICHTIG (!!!!) an zu schütten. Thank you, Scotland.
Wie dankbar ich doch für meine Regenjacke war. Der Regen hielt dann natürlich auch die ganze Zeit an und wurde natürlich auch nicht weniger. Mir lief an meinen Beinen runter (in meiner Hose), in meine Ärmel, alles wurde nass. Deswegen hab ich auch keine guten Fotos machen können, aber ich klau mal welche von Julia.

Unsere Dienstagsbeschäftigung- PUBQUIZ!!!!

Obwohl wir in der ersten Hälfte so viel falsch hatten haha (siehe Bild), haben wir doch den ZWEITEN PLATZ gemacht oh yeah.

Leider bekommt nur der erste Platz das Geld, aber weil es ja Movember ist, haben wir ein Movember Paket bekommen. Und nein,wir dürfen nicht schummeln mit unseren Handys. Auf den Fotos hatten wir grad Pause und wir haben unsere falschen Antworten nachgeschaut. Während des Quizzes müssen alle Handys verschwinden und wer doch schummelt, wird öffentlich gedemütigt.

Donnerstag abends sind wir alle immer ein bisschen fertig mit den Nerven. Aber auch genauso erleichtert, dass die Woche endlich rum ist. Deswegen sind wir gestern spontan ins Caprice gegangen, ein kleines italienisches Restaurant in Musselburgh. 

Da ich ja schon amerikanische Pizza nicht mochte und die Domino Pizza aus Schottland bis jetzt auch nicht so super war, war ich drauf und dran aufzugeben. Aber neeeein, ich wurde eines besseren belehrt. Caprice Pizza ist SO GUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Und die allerbeste Erfindung- man kann half Pizza und half Pasta bestellen.

Und du wir alle sehr gefräßig sind, gibt es Pommes als Side Order und Garlic Bread&Bruschetta als Appetizer. SO vollgestopft war ich lange nicht mehr (naaja okay, als wir letztens Chinesisch bestellt haben).

Movember

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions and words raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

Other countries go crazy at Halloween. In Britain, not just Edinburgh, Bonfire Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Night, is marked with fiery celebrations across the land.
The celebration may share roots with Halloween, and the pagan Samhuinn and Hogmanay celebrations, marking the start of the "dark days"; but Bonfire Night's date originates from the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605 by a group of English Catholics to blow up the House of Lords.
The goal of the Gunpowder Plot was to kill the protestant James VI of Scotland and I of England. However, Guy Fawkes was discovered skulking in the cellars of parliament on 5th November with a pile of gunpowder, arrested, and executed shortly thereafter.
Hence Bonfire Night is always on 5th November ("remember, remember").
Public celebrations involve the burning of effigies ("the Guy") on a bonfire, fireworks, dancing, dunking for apples, roasting potatoes, and such like.

Remembrance Day is on 11 November. It is a special day set aside to remember all those men and women who were killed during the two World Wars and other conflicts. At one time the day was known as Armistice Day and was renamed Remembrance Day after the Second World War.
Remembrance Day is also known as Poppy Day, because it is traditional to wear an artificial poppy. They are sold by the Royal British Legion, a charity dedicated to helping war veterans.
At 11am on each Remembrance Sunday a two minute silence is observed at war memorials and other public spaces across the UK.

HALLOWEEN #2

Sooo, diesmal gibt es Bilder vom Club. Wir wollten ins Cav, standen erstmal ewig lang an obwohl wir uns schon vorgedrängelt hatten. Weil wir nicht auf der Gästeliste standen, wurde jeder vor uns reingelassen. Das ist wirklich so behindert hier, es ist kein Ding auf die Gästeliste zu kommen, aber wenn man das mal vergessen hat.... Naja, es war dann aber doch ganz cool und der DJ war sooo gut!!!!! 

Und die Kostüme erst, hach ich liebe Halloween.
