Sunday review.

This week went by so fast! A little review and stream of consciousness of this past week.
  • The weather has been horribly, mostly really cold and not sunny and windy. I might as well be in Scotland. On Friday we had a "snow day" again, so all classes were cancelled!
  • The night before we went out to have 2$ Frozen Margaritas at the Black Sheep Lodge, which is just around the corner. When we got the email saying that all classes were cancelled things went a little crazy and our total bill consisted of 30 drinks. Oops.
  •  Yesterday we took a little girls trip to the beauty salon and got our eyebrows done- finally! I took all the girls to the only Benefit Brow Bar here in Austin because that's where I go in Edinburgh- everyone was so happy with the result- no surprise, they are just amazing at what they do!
  • One of the girls here has a car and I just love when we drive somewhere- the buses here are better than in most cities but still not really that helpful if you wanna go somewhere off the main route.
  • I am knee deep in homework actually but writing this helps a big deal to procrastinate- I also already got my first paper back with a ridiculous good A- woohoo!
  •  Yoga is hard, people! I go to the classes here at the gym and I envy all the girls who can stay perfectly still during those difficult poses. My goal for the semester is to be just like them. Haha we will see how that goes.
  •  Last but NOT LEAST- I BOUGHT A TICKET TO SEE JAMES BLUNT IN MAY IN HOUSTON! SO SO SO SO HAPPY!!!

A-ca-scuse me?

Ooooh, a cappella singing. I really don't know what it is I like so much about it- maybe the fact that you can see it coming together right in front of your eyes. You know there is nothing else going on, just them singing. No machines messing with their voices, no fakeness. It's all real.
I loved 'Pitch Perfect' so I knew I had to see some a cappella live action at the Fringe. 'Out of the Blue' was a show that I was able to see for free and I am so glad I went! Those boys actually got really far in 'Britain's Got Talent' and that is no surprise, they are reaaaally good!
So I googled a little bit and found a video of their audition-

And also my favorite bit from Pitch Perfect:

Military Tattoo {Edinburgh 2013}

Every tourist in Edinburgh knows about the Military Tattoo, I suppose. It's on 50% of the postcards (for christs sake) and so far more than 12 million people have seen it. It's on every night in August, sometimes even twice a night and in the last 63 years not a single performance has ever been cancelled. There are performances from various countries, so it's not just hours of pure bagpiping.

Julia and I bought tickets in July (it's selling out quite quickly) and went to see it two days ago.
I went in with not that many expectations and I ended up really liking it. I am not much into that whole war remembering thing or motorbike stunts, but other than that the performances were so impressive! A marching band from New Zealand played Gangnam Style, they projected pictures onto the castle (my favorite) and loads of bagpiping, which I really enjoy. Our tickets were among the cheapest (26£) and our seats were just fine. It is clearly a very touristy event but for that night it was alright. Julia took amazing pictures and I am just waiting so I can show them to you!

And this is my goose bumps moment from the finale- I reuploaded it from Instagram, so hopefully everyone can see it. Just a couple seconds of Scottish magic.

Robbie Williams Concert {Take the Crown Tour 2013, Glasgow}

Phueew, I have anticipated this concert for soooo long and all of the sudden it was happening.It was a bit of a shame that I was going by myself, but oh well. The crowd was a bit strange to be honest, mostly middle aged women with pink glittery hats. Not sure who else I excpected though.

Now because he is still touring and I don't want to "ruin" the show for anyone, I will just put the rest of the post behind the cut. Don't read it when you are still going to see the show, I think it would just spoil a lot of the fun.

Imagine Dragons Concert {Glasgow 2013}

My last proper concert is aaaaages ago, probably in like 2009? My priorities shifted so much these last years and I think I just forgot how much fun concerts are.
This gig was definately a first in terms of newcomer bands. I have never seen a band being so overwhelmed by everything and so appreciative of their fans in such a genuine way- "I have no idea how you even know who we are" - it was so sweet to see them at the beginning of their career, because I am pretty sure we will never be able to see them in such a small venue and only pay 11 quid for a ticket. Sad in a way, but it felt pretty cool to be part of this.

There is no feeling that can compare when they play the song you love so much. Your whole body is itching to dance and your face is covered in the biggest grin- And I only know this band for like 4 months.  So I have a feeling that Robbie Williams is seriously going to make me cry (or sob)... oh man, at least I am going by myself haha
